White Plume

Catalogue note

A dark ground dissolves into a burst of pale, feathery forms that read variously as spray, plumage or smoke. The image is soft and heavily banded, its surface reproduced poorly, so the subject resists resolution. Compositionally the white mass surges from lower left toward the upper right in a loose, gestural flourish.
