Lilies on Dark Water

Catalogue note

Rounded lily pads in chartreuse, viridian and olive cluster across the foreground of a shadowed pond, catching a shaft of light along the water. Reeds fringe the upper left, their pale stalks plunging into near-black water. The brushwork is confident and painterly and the viewpoint is cropped close, as though kneeling at the bank.
