A high horizon divides a soft grey-blue sky from a band of dark sea and pale surf, most of the canvas given to empty air. The composition is deliberately minimal, with subtle tonal shifts across the sky and a single frieze of breaking white. Quiet, confident and reductive, it asks the viewer to slow down.
