Leaves on Deep Blue

A close, almost abstract view of water in which scattered autumn leaves drift across deep blues and a band of warm ochre reflection. Broad, wet brushmarks blur the distinction between surface and reflection, so the picture reads as colour and movement rather than literal description. The contrast between the cold indigo depths and the rust-gold of the leaves gives the work a melancholy, elegiac stillness.
