Soft close-up views of white and blue cloth, a pale mottled expanse above and deeper blue below, are joined by what appear to be wooden clothes pegs. The painting is handled with blurred, atmospheric edges, so the fabric reads like cloud, water or skin as much as laundry. The ambiguity between the mundane and the abstract gives the image a strange, dreamlike tenderness.
