Catalogue note

A composite political picture assembles two painted heads, one pale and spectral, the other recognisable and flushed, around a Liberty Bell inscribed with a slogan and the words ‘We the People’. An American flag and a wall of scrawled number sequences frame the obverse of a coin, while a dark, rocky mass carries faint lettering along the bottom. The work is deliberately overloaded, mixing portrait, symbol and slogan into an emblem of political anxiety.
