Three Chimpanzees in Red

Across three joined panels three chimpanzees crouch in postures of grief or denial, hands over eyes and face, arms folded, against a field of dripping saturated red. Beneath them the ground dissolves into a dark honeycomb of cells, while faint grey letters float in the pale upper panels. The altar-like triptych format and visceral colour make an unmistakably urgent appeal about cruelty and complicity.
