Willows in Snow

Catalogue note

Pollarded willows stand bare along a fence line in a scene given over to greys, whites and blacks, as if under snow. The trunks are intensely dark, the ground a pale, indeterminate field crossed by the thin marks of fencing. The palette is almost grisaille, and the mood is stark, cold and quiet.
