The Lily Pond

Catalogue note

A pond thick with lily pads mirrors a fringe of trees, a dark boat-like shape resting against the far bank. The painting balances a busy foreground of green discs against a wide, pale expanse of reflected light. Composed with quiet authority, it is a homage to stillness, water as mirror and garden as calm.
