Hilltop Village in Lavender

Catalogue note

A clustered hill town with terracotta roofs sits above fields that run down to a foreground of violet furrows, framed by green hills and a warm sky. Outlines are drawn in dark, decisive strokes that give the scene a graphic, almost stained-glass structure, while the colour is saturated and emotional, hot yellows set against cool purples. The elevated viewpoint turns the landscape into a stage and lends it a folk-tale serenity.
