Tree-Lined Waterway

Catalogue note

A leafy tunnel of trees closes over a narrow waterway that carries a small barge toward a sunlit house in the distance. The greens are vivid and varied, dabbed and hatched over dark trunks, while the pale water is broken by reflections in vertical strokes. The strong perspective and the glowing end-of-tunnel light give the picture a lifted, radiant optimism.
