Catalogue note

A nude is painted in soft, luminous flesh tones across a pale ground, a deep blue drape or band sweeping above and beyond the body. The modelling is smooth and blurred, with edges dissolving so that the figure reads as light and colour as much as anatomy. The contrast of warm skin against cold blue gives the image a sensual, twilight stillness.
