A whale back breaks the surface at a steep diagonal, painted in saturated blues against a pale, spray-flecked sky. The image is almost monochrome, held by the contrast between the bright rim of foam and the deep blue mass. Splatter and scumble give the air a wet, salt-laden atmosphere.
