Canal Bridge Reflections

A canal runs from the foreground to a low bridge flanked by trees, a pale building standing beyond on the right. The brushwork is brisk and wet-edged, especially in the luminous whites of the reflected sky, and the limited palette of greens, violets and creams keeps the whole in a single key. The composition’s strong central perspective draws the eye calmly down the water toward the arched bridge.
