Fallen Leaves

Catalogue note

Red and gold leaves scatter across a dark, vertically streaked field of blue and black, overbroken by pale cold light at the top. The leaf shapes are crisp and almost maple-like, set against watery or shadowed ground described in soft, dragging strokes. The picture reads as a fall of foliage on moving water or wet ground, its mood cool and autumnal.
