Lily pads and their reflections float across a sunstruck surface, light glancing off rippled water in broad silver-white streaks. Loose, wet-looking strokes let the image hover between representation and abstraction, dark reeds anchoring the pale field. It is a study of surface as much as of subject, calm and meditative, almost a tone poem in blue.
