Three Red-Finned Fish

Catalogue note

Three large fish, golden-flanked with vivid red fins, glide above a sandy bed in turquoise water. The composition staggers them diagonally, one open-mouthed at the upper right, producing a sense of slow current and suspension. Turquoise, ochre and scarlet are richly handled, the fish modelled in confident, luminous strokes.
