Yellow Leaf

Catalogue note

Autumn leaves, gold and green and russet, lie in clear water beside a dark stone wall, seen at a raking angle. The composition is close and intimate, the picture plane tilted, the ripples transcribed as quick blue strokes. It is a study in looking down, at once precise and painterly.
